JR. & SR. Team!

The Jr. & Sr. Team is a useful tool and bridge program for beginning and experienced figure skaters!

Sr. Team will be Tuesday Evenings from 7:20-9:00 p.m.

Junior Team

 Alpha thru Freestyle 3

The Junior Team is a great introduction to the sport of figure skating for both skaters and their families in terms of the time commitment & training it takes to become a competitive figure skater.
Junior Team is a program offered at the SCVRC which is designed as a “bridge” program from the group/recreational program to a more private/competitive program. Its purpose is to develop skaters who may wish to pursue competitive skating and to assist them in moving through basic figure skating skills more quickly.
The skaters will take part in a 30 minute “Off-Ice” session in addition to a 60-minute “On-Ice” session. Parents will have the opportunity to attend weekly informational meetings during their skater’s off-ice time where such topics as where to find skating equipment, figure skating testing, and competitions will be discussed, along with many others. Any and all questions are welcomed, and will be addressed.
Students in our Junior Team Program are strongly encouraged to also participate in our group skating classes in addition to this Program, as testing to advance levels is not done within the Junior Team format. This type of program has proven to be very successful in many other skating clubs around the United States.

Senior Team

 Freestyle 4 thru Freestyle 10

The Senior Team is a great way for our more advanced skaters to get more interaction with other skaters in the sport of figure skating. By working in a team setting, they can work with coaches to watch and critique one another in a positive environment. Critiquing other skaters can help skaters build body awareness and early teaching abilities.

Senior Team is run under our ISI program and split up by their ISI levels but, they do not work on elements limited to their level. Senior Team members will work on elements and areas of their skating, that their coach chooses. Because of this, ISI testing is not done in the program, and needs to be taken care of in group lessons or scheduled with the skating director.

Varsity Lettering Program!

Skaters at the St. Croix Valley Recreation Center are some of the few skaters, in Minnesota, that have a chance to earn a Varsity letter in the sport of Figure Skating!  We offer a unbelievable ice package to our dedicated athletes that are committed to the sport and rink.  Check out the program to see just what it takes to earn a Varsity letter and how much you can save by doing so!

Special Training Tools

In addition to our experienced coaches we have great training tools to offer. We proudly offer Dartfish, a high-tech computer program which help skaters with various elements on the ice.  The athlete's elements are broken down to every single movement by video analysis. By videotaping and running the program, it allows the skater and the coach to analyze their skating in depth and detail.

We are proud to announce that we have five jumping harnesses!    We believe by using on and off-ice harnesses, we can help prepare skaters for their jumps.  Our harnesses help train the skater to rotate their jumps faster and have been known to provide help in learning and landing jumps faster.
