Skaters on contract ice are expected to demonstrate appropriate ice etiquette, including, but not limited to:
1. Concentrating on moves and routines while remaining aware of other skaters and coaches.
2. Giving special consideration to skaters skating in a program, lesson or in progress of a particular jump or maneuver.
3. The spinning area is located at the Zamboni end; therefore “spinners” have the right-of-way in the spinning area.
4. When not in motion, staying close to the boards.
5. When going backwards, it is the skater’s responsibility to check behind for other skaters.
DO NOT SKATE BACKWARDS BLINDLY!!! **Especially when performing Spirals**
Use the Ice Constructively and Safely
o Do not visit or meet in groups on the ice.
o Do not participate in careless or foolish maneuvers on the ice.
o Do not damage the ice or make it unsafe for others by kicking holes in the ice, dragging ice picks, or creating deep ridges in the ice.
o Do not enter the ice before the session begins.
o Do not remain on the ice after the session ends.
o Show respect for ALL skaters and coaches. If you have any problem or concern with a skater or coach, please see the Skating Director regarding the issue.
Skater Sign-In & Banking for Contract Ice
Skaters must sign their name on the sign-in sheet before stepping on the ice. Ask the front desk for the skating binder. Skaters may sign-in early and for each session they skate that day. If their name is not on the list for that session they are to add their name to the list. Skaters are to sign-in only for themselves.
Each skater must purchase their own ice. Sharing sessions between skaters is not allowed.
Whether you are skating 10 minutes or the full session, you must pay for the full session.
Banking/Exchanging/Buying-on to Contract Ice
**Banked ice is ONLY good for the current contract session you are registered for. Banked ice does not roll over, ex: Spring to Summer, Summer to Fall, etc.**
When you bank ice, you are saving those ice times that you did not use, so that you may use them at a later date during that same contract session. Banking an ice session must be done before the week is over by placing an “X” in the “bank” column on the sign-in sheet. The same is to be done for using a credit and/or buying a session.
You must sign-in to all sessions you are skating; including those you are using as a banked credit. The skating week is as shown on the skating schedule attached with the contracts, Sunday through Saturday.
We realize people are busy and have appointments that cannot be re-scheduled. The following methods will help you use all of your contracted ice times even when you cannot be there:
1. Banking, exchanging, or buying-on to a contracted ice session MUST be done in-person.
2. Banking, exchanging, or buying-on ONLY applies to contracted ice times. This may not be done with morning freestyle.
Spectator Policy
In order to create an environment that is conducive to positive learning and free from unnecessary distractions, those observing skating sessions should not be in the hockey boxes, or at the doorways of the ice. It is acceptable for people to be in these areas for short periods of time to speak with a coach or skater, but they should move to another area as soon as possible.
Skaters waiting for a session to begin should also avoid these areas until it is time to get on the ice. Anyone observing a skating session from the restricted areas will be asked to move.
