Shane Wagner is a 2000 graduate of Stillwater Area High School. He played for the Stillwater Ponies from 1998 to 2000.

After high school, Shane joined the American West Hockey League (AWHL) where he played for the Junior A Butte Irish in Butte Montana for two years. He came back to Minnesota to attend Hamline University where he continued his hockey career for the next four years. He was a two-time captain and two-time all conference. He graduated from Hamline with a degree in Physics. His passion for hockey continued for the next six years where he played in the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL). He was in the starting line-up for the Jacksonville Barracudas, in Jacksonville Florida, from 2006 to 2008 and then traveled to North Carolina where he was named captain for the Twin City Cyclones.

Shane ended his playing career in Biloxi, Mississippi where he played for two years and was a two-time captain for the Mississippi Surge. His final season in Biloxi ended on a high note when the Mississippi Surge were crowned the regular season champions and received the coveted 2010-2011 William B. Coffey trophy.  In the off season, Shane has coached at the St. Croix Valley Rec Center for the past 13 years. He worked for various camps which included Turcotte Hockey, Andre’ Beaulieu Hockey School, Minnesota Pro Development Hockey, Wagner Hockey Academy, Diane Ness Skating School and Exceed Hockey. Shane is currently the Hockey Director at the St. Croix Valley Recreation Center where he continues to pursue his love of the game of hockey.
