Open Skate allows participants to skate freely, work on skating skills by themselves, use the time as exercise and enjoy skating.  Stick and puck are NOT allowed on ice during this time.

Open Hockey allows the participants to be on the ice and shoot pucks, work on their skills, and play pick-up hockey games. Helmets REQUIRED.

During OPEN HOCKEY we do not allow Instructional Hockey

Instructional Hockey training is not allowed during open skate sessions. Instructional Hockey is designed for COACHES to be able to do private lessons one-on-one or in a small group settings on a whole sheet of rented ice.  A small group is defined as four skaters or less. All coaches who are teaching Instructional Hockey MUST have current liability insurance on file with St. Croix Valley Recreation Center and Lily Lake listed as additionally insured.  Coaches/Skaters will NOT be allowed on the ice without these on file.  Please see an employee if you are a coach looking to train students and are seeking additional ice time opportunities for this.
